The government of The Bahamas will use smart technology to establish the archipelago as a smart country, beginning with the island of New Providence.

Addressing the opening session of the International Telecommunications Union’s Global Symposium for Regulators held at Atlantis Paradise Island, Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis outlined his government’s priorities as they relate to smart innovation.

Moody’s likely downgrade ‘not unexpected’

In a statement by the Ministry of Finance the government has said that credit rating agency Moody's decision to place The Bahamas on review for a downgrade was "not unexpected" given the "undesirable state of the fiscal situation". Read the full statement here.

The Ministry of Finance takes note of the statement by Moody’s with respect to placing The Bahamas on review for a downgrade. This action, in itself, was not unexpected, given the undesirable state of the fiscal situation, as detailed in the government’s 2017/18 Budget Communication.

Cloud Carib– a managed cloud service provider, with data centres in Nassau and Freeport in The Bahamas – is launching a newly rebuilt CaribPod data centre in Panama.

Cloud Carib has also announced service extensions into Barbados and Jamaica and additional regional sites planned in Trinidad, Cayman, and other locations before the end of this year.

Odyssey Aviation recently signed a contract with Island Industries (Bahamas) Ltd for the construction of a new hangar and ramp expansion.

The hangar features 200 ft clearspan allowing wide open interior hangar space to accommodate their clients aircraft.

Engel & Völkers Bahamas, a result of a union with Bahamas Waterfront Properties, will provide services to buyers and sellers of properties across the archipelago.
