Atlantis PIAugust 2017 (Hospitality Design) – José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup has announced the launch of the chef’s newest outpost of Fish by José Andrés at the Cove at Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Slated for a 2018 opening, the new eatery will feature a design from Spanish firm Capella Garcia that captures the spirit and flair of the Bahamas to inspire and further transport diners.

Organic elements will permeate through the open and airy dining room, which is easily divisible into private areas with translucent curtains. The colors, shapes, and textures of the Bahamian seascape will be reflected in the design as well. Andrés’ concept will also emphasize sustainable fishing practices and promote the protections of the Bahamian coral reefs.

Silver AirwaysFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Silver Airways (“Silver” or the “Company”), the airline of choice in Florida and the Bahamas, announced today several strategic developments that will enable its continued growth.

Upgraded Fleet
Silver announced today a historic agreement by signing a letter of intent to renew and expand its fleet with up to 50 new ATR-600 series aircraft. This is a significant strategic accomplishment for the airline and a transaction valued at up to $1.1 billion. The initial order is for 20 ATR-42-600 aircraft and the agreement also provides Silver the ability to upgauge to the larger series ATR-72-600s. With this deal, Silver becomes the first fully independent U.S. regional airline in more than 20 years to sign a new aircraft deal of this magnitude. The firm 20 aircraft will be lease financed by Silver.

CTO CHTAThe Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) presented a number of short, medium and long-term proposals to the regional leaders at their recent summit in Grenada, aimed at positioning the Caribbean as a thriving world-class tourism, and bolstering the region’s economic strength and stability.

In the presentation titled “Tourism in the Region: Building a Caribbean Tourism Development and Marketing Initiative,” the region’s tourism leaders recommended advancing research to better assess tourism’s economic impact and the region’s competitiveness.

The annual summit was hosted by the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers (NABHOOD), Black Meetings & Tourism Magazine and Horizons International Group.

Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis said in his national address July 26, that the government is committed to supporting the tourism industry to bring further growth to the economy.

During the address he said that renovations at the Grand Lucayan on Grand Bahama, which was hit hard by Hurricane Matthew last year, are expected to begin within the next month, with the resort expected to be ready in time for the 2017 Winter Season.
