NADIn a statement released yesterday, the Nassau Airport Development Co has announced that operations will continue as normal at Lynden Pindling International Airport through to end of day 7 September, ahead of Hurricane Irma.

The statement continued:

“The public is reminded to check with their individual airline regarding any changes in flight times, or cancellations.”

The southeast Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands have been placed under a Hurricane Watch and can feel impact of Hurricane Irma within 48 hours.

The Bahamas Department of Meteorology issued Alert #3 September 5, 2017 at 12 noon.

The potentially catastrophic Category 5 Hurricane Irma is moving toward the Leeward Islands.

Addressing a cocktail reception for Bahamians living in Atlanta last weekend, Prime Minister Minnis said the Bahamian diaspora is a “major talent and investment pool that The Bahamas must tap into.”

ScholarshipsThe lives of four local high school students are about to change for the better through scholarships to Windsor High School at Albany – an exclusive school for the wealthy associated with the luxury residential community located on the southwestern end of New Providence.

Monday marked the beginning of the first school year for the new institution.

The newest Windsor High School students are 15-year-old Haylie Turnquest (golf scholarship recipient), 14-year-old Jacobi Bain (academic/tennis), 15-year-old Sydney Clarke (academic/tennis) and 15-year-old Reagan McKenzie (academic).

PM looks to boost GB economy

Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis was in Grand Bahama last week to meet with key stakeholders as part of his administration’s efforts to reinvigorate the island’s economy.

“The first mandate given to this office is the economic revitalization of Grand Bahama,” he said.

During the visit, Minnis announced that Grand Bahama will soon host a GB Tech Summit, with leading local and international technology companies.

“The summit will expose entrepreneurs to the global market and Grand Bahama will be on the way to becoming a tech hub of The Bahamas,” Prime Minister Minnis told members of the media August 25 at the Office of The Prime Minister in Freeport.
