Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis has said that he believes that this year will be an excellent year for Grand Bahama.

The Prime Minister’s comments came during the official opening of Pirate’s Cove Zipline & Water Park, located at Taino Beach, last weekend.

The Caribbean region’s largest tourism marketing event will be held in Jamaica next year.

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) officially announced that the 37th Caribbean Travel Marketplace will be held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre January 29-31, 2019.

The event will be held in collaboration with the Jamaica Ministry of Tourism, the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association and the Jamaica Tourist Board.

GB Business Outlook line-up announced

A major theme of the government’s newly-designed investment promotion strategy for the country is that The Bahamas is “an archipelago of possibilities”, Prime Minister, Dr Hubert Minnis told the country’s key business leaders Thursday.

Addressing the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation’s Power Breakfast February 1 at Baha Mar, Prime Minister Minis said the new theme is designed to promote the diversification of investment possibilities in The Bahamas – ranging from tourism, to financial services, to technology, aquaculture, to renewable energy, nanotechnology and other emerging industries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Peter Turnquest has said that blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionise the way business is done in The Bahamas.

During the “Understanding Blockchain Technology Applications: What You Need to Know” workshop hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB<-- -->) at Baha Mar Convention Centre January 31, the DPM added that Blockchain technology has the ability to propel the country in a really dramatic way to become a true leader in terms of technology and the way business is done, as well as the ease of doing business.

Regulators disseminated critical risk information to hundreds of stakeholders in the financial services sector who were attending a first of its kind National Risk Assessment (NRA) Industry Briefing yesterday.

The two and a half hour meeting at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort January 31 completed compliance with international standards in the fight against money laundering (ML) and terrorist financing (TF) mandated by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
