The Central Bank of The Bahamas has announced that the $20,000,000 Initial Public Offering of Bahamas Registered Stock facilitated by the Central Bank on behalf of the government of The Bahamas for value February 23, 2018 was fully subscribed.

The Central Bank of The Bahamas has announced that the $20,000,000 Initial Public Offering of Bahamas Registered Stock facilitated by the Central Bank on behalf of the government of The Bahamas for value February 23, 2018 was fully subscribed.

Following the Treasury Bill Tender held Friday, February 16, 2018 B$203,800,000.00 91-day Treasury Bills were fully allotted.

Airports Council International World has announced the winners of its 2017 Airport Service Quality Awards, with Lynden Pindling International Airport earning a third-place tied ranking for Best Airport serving more than two million passengers per year in the Latin America-Caribbean region.

Airports Council International (ACI) World has announced the winners of its 2017 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards, with Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) earning a third-place tied ranking for Best Airport serving more than two million passengers per year in the Latin America-Caribbean region.

Last year marked the seventh year of LPIA participation in ASQ surveys, and the second consecutive year that the airport has placed in the region’s top three.

DPM: Bahamas to see moderate economic growth

During his contribution to the 2017/18 Mid-Year Budget Debate yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Peter Turnquest said that the International Monetary Fund's decision to upgrade its forecast for economic growth in The Bahamas is in line with the brighter economic outlook globally and especially in the US.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Peter Turnquest has said that the International Monetary Fund has marked up its forecast for economic growth in The Bahamas in line with the brighter economic outlook globally and especially in the US.

“Real growth in 2018 is now forecast at 2.5 per cent, up from 2.2 per cent at the time of the last budget.”

A Bahamian delegation led by Minister of State for Grand Bahama Kwasi Thompson is currently on a trade mission to Washington, DC, with the aim of attracting more business and investment to The Bahamas.

The delegation includes the Bahamas Ambassador to Washington, DC Sydney Collie, president of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation Edison Sumner and other chamber officials, officials of the Ministry of Tourism, the Bahamian Embassy, and the Grand Bahama Port Authority.

Minister of Financial Services, Trade & Industry and Immigration Brent Symonette, says that steps are being taken to grow and sustain the financial services sector.

The Minister made the remarks during his opening speech at the Bahamas Financial Services Board’s 15th annual International Business and Finance Summit.

The event was held at the Baha Mar Convention Centre March 1, under the theme “Hit the Reset Button.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Peter Turnquest, in his capacity as one of the Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), attended the 7th Annual Consultation Meetings with Caribbean Governors of the IDB held in Kingston, Jamaica,February 26-27.

The DPM participated in a panel discussion led by Sir Richard Branson and IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno.

The discussions centred on climate change developments and how technology can impact climate resilience as countries contemplate rebuilding and infrastructure planning in a more sustainable way.

Caribbean Community (CARICOM ) leaders discussed a number of topical issues ranging from disaster management, mitigation and recovery to mandatory evacuations for regional citizens during natural disasters during the two days of the 29th Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the CARICOM that ended February 27.

Regional crime, violence and tourism were also on the agenda.

Bahamian Minister of Foreign Affairs Darren Henfield, who took over the chair as head of delegation for The Bahamas on Tuesday following Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis’s departure for New Providence Monday night, said the discussions “went extremely well.”
