One month after announcing its presence on the island, GIBC Digital hosted Minister of State for Grand Bahama in the Office of the Prime Minister Kwasi Thompson, and other officials to a tour of its offices in the Jasmine Corporate Centre June 4.

With its official opening scheduled for the end of June, GIBC Digital has committed to hiring some 50 people, and an initial investment of $2.5 million.

Atlantis launches new marine programmes – photos

Atlantis Paradise Island resort launched three new marine programmes at the end of last week to coincide with World Oceans Day. The new programmes for visitors are a marine adventure camp, twilight snorkel tour and a sea lion interaction experience.

Princess CaysAfter a ten-day drydock at the Grand Bahama Shipyard, Princess Cruises’ new and improved Crown Princess is ready to rejoin the fleet.

The luxury liner was docked in Freeport, Grand Bahama last month for extensive upgrades, as part of the company’s $450 million investment in improving their flagship vessels.

Enhancements carried out at the GB Shipyard included new dining facilities, improved accommodation, general refurbishing and technical updates.

CTO Tourism AwardsBahamas Minister of Tourism and Aviation Dionisio D’Aguilar and a delegation including Director General Joy Jibrilu and other representatives are attending the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) Caribbean Week event in New York City this week.

The CTO’s major annual summit will take place June 2-8 at Wyndham New Yorker hotel in Midtown. Tourism officials, industry professionals, media, students and Caribbean consumers will gather to share and receive important updates on the state of tourism in the region, and celebrate the sights, sounds, colour and culture of the Caribbean.

During Caribbean Week New York 2018 (#CWNY18), the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and its Allied Members will bestow special honours on nine industry and business professionals in addition to 12 travel influencers from the media, during its Caribbean Tourism Industry Awards Dinner and Fashion Show.

The event, taking place 7 June at the Wyndham New Yorker (481 Eighth Avenue), is co-sponsored by Jamaica and will feature Haitian-American Marlie Hall, an award-winning broadcast journalist and entrepreneur, and former correspondent for CBS News, as Master of Ceremonies.

The Bahamas Tourist Office, Houston, Texas, recently teamed up with Bahamasair to provide US agents from the west and southwest areas, with an experiential visit to The Islands Of The Bahamas via Bahamasair’s new Houston to Nassau direct service out of George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

The some 25 travel agents on the trip included agents from top tour operator companies in the west and southwest such as Funjet Vacations, Virtuoso, AA Vacations, Apple Leisure Group, Pleasant Holidays, Travel Impressions, Inteletravel, VAX and Classic Vacations.
