CARICOM summit concludes

During the final day of the 39th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis said that several matters of significant importance had been addressed at the summit held in Jamaica, July 4-6.

“There several matters that I think were of great importance and significance to The Bahamas which have to be resolved, discussed, and The Bahamas’ position be placed firmly within the Caribbean Community,” the Prime Minister said.

He pointed out that one of the items discussed in particular is the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) and the free movement of people between all 15 CARICOM member states.

One Marina is adjacent to the property’s marina and was 40 per cent sold before being released to the general market, according to Myles Newell, the recently-appointed director of sales and marketing.

Call for greater Caribbean integration at CARICOM meeting

The 39th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) got underway with a clarion call for greater Caribbean integration among the 15 member-states and associates. The high-level summit is being held July 4-6 in Montego Bay Convention Centre, Jamaica.

Prime Minister Dr Hubert A. Minnis is heading The Bahamas delegation to 39th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), July 4-6, 2018 being held in Montego Bay Convention Centre, Jamaica.

Among the key agenda items are crime and security strategy, disaster management and climate change, and the implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).

Developments within the domestic economy remained largely positive during the review period of May 2018, as tourism indicators continued to trend upwards, while foreign investment projects supported construction-related activity, according to the latest report from The Central Bank of The Bahamas.

Developments within the domestic economy remained largely positive during the review period of May 2018, as tourism indicators continued to trend upwards, while foreign investment projects supported construction-related activity.

Reflecting the increase in global oil prices, domestic energy costs rose during the period, while on the fiscal front, the cumulative deficit contracted over the ten months of FY2017/2018, due to a decline in capital expenditure and an increase in revenue.

Minister for Grand Bahama Kwasi Thompson officially opened the Information and Communications Technology Summer Programme June 27, 2018 at the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) in Grand Bahama.

The Minister said the programme will give young Bahamians an opportunity for free education in an industry that is quickly expanding in Grand Bahama.
