Excelerate logoGRAND BAHAMA, Bahamas, February 2019 /PRNewswire/ — On February 7, 2019, Excelerate Energy L.P. (Excelerate) and Equinor Energy AS (Equinor) completed the first ever ship-to-ship (STS) transfer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in The Bahamas.

Utilizing Excelerate’s floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) Exemplar and Equinor’s LNG carrier Arctic Voyager, a full LNG cargo was transferred using the double-banked LNG transfer system while moored at Equinor’s South Riding Point storage and transshipment terminal which is strategically located for storage and transshipment of crude, products and LNG.

Government officials welcome Bahamasair's new Boeing - photos

Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis and Minister of Tourism and Aviation Dionisio D’Aguilar welcomed the newest addition to Bahamasair’s fleet yesterday morning.
The new Boeing 737-790NG aircraft touched down for the very first time at Lynden Pindling International Airport at 11:05 am, February 14, 2019 after traveling from Anchorage, Alaska, to Opalocka, Florida before making its way to New Providence.

A Commissioning Ceremony marking the plane’s arrival took place at the Bahamasair Hangar Lynden Pindling International Airport.

Underscoring the importance of Bahamasair in linking the islands, the Prime Minister said, “The arrival of this aircraft is a sign of our nation’s sustained growth and economic expansion as we continue to see strong numbers from our tourism sector.”

Central Bank's new HQ

The Central Bank of The Bahamas’ new building is part of the revitalization of downtown Nassau, Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis told the House of Assembly yesterday.

He was contributing to the debate on the Resolution to Convey Property and Land from the government of The Bahamas to Central Bank for the building of a new bank.

“The redeveloped Prince George Wharf, the new Supreme Court Complex, and supporting offices, and the new Central Bank will boost the revitalization, renewal and restoration of downtown,” the Prime Minister said during the morning House session on February 13, 2019.

The Central Bank of The Bahamas, in conjunction with the Group of Financial Services Regulators (GFSR), has published the first annual Bahamas 2018 AML/CFT Report.

In a statement on its website, the banks said that the launch of the report “aims to amalgamate all the various AML/CFT work conducted during the year by regulatory bodies and public/private agencies, highlighting the increased inter-agency co-operation and industry participation within The Bahamas regarding financial crime risk management.”
