Chef Todd English will introduce his Olives restaurant to Atlantis Paradise Island, opening June 1, 2013. Featuring his signature open kitchen and Mediterranean cuisine, Olives Atlantis will be cited in the Atlantis Casino.

Designed by interior architect and designer Jeffrey Beers, the restaurant is Olives’ first in the region.

“We are thrilled to welcome yet another celebrity chef to the Atlantis dining experience,” says George Markantonis, president and managing director of Atlantis Paradise Island.

Suresh SookooPort-of-Spain, Trinidad, January 29, 2013: RBC Capital Markets, working in conjunction with RBC Merchant Bank (Caribbean) Ltd, successfully placed a US$300 million amortizing bond issue (consistent with US Reg S and 144A markets) for the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), to bolster regional development and stimulate economic growth within the region.

CDB is the region’s only multilateral development financing organization, and has the highest long-term debt securities rating of all Caribbean financial institutions, with an AA grade from Standard and Poor’s, and an Aa1 rating from Moody’s.

Bahamians have voted against the establishment of a national lottery and the regulation of web shop gaming.

Voters in The Bahamas on Monday overwhelmingly rejected a referendum to legalize gambling for citizens of the archipelago, where locals are already barred from betting in casinos at tourist resorts, according to an Associated Press report.

NASSAU, Bahamas Jan. 2013 (AP) — Voters in the Bahamas on Monday overwhelmingly rejected a referendum to legalize gambling for citizens of the archipelago off Florida’s east coast, where locals were already barred from betting in casinos at the islands’ tourist resorts.

Underground gambling operations called “web shops” where Bahamians bet on numbers in televised U.S. lotteries have become commonplace in recent years. The shops operate in violation of Bahamian law, but police and political leaders have largely turned a blind eye to them for years.
