Government and diplomatic representatives from The Bahamas are attending the 26th Geneva Week at the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, which runs April 29-May 3.

Rita Kaufmann, financial and trade officer, Ministry of Financial Services, and Michael Guy, second secretary, Embassy of The Bahamas London, have been at the week-long conference.

The Port of Baltimore today welcomed Royal Caribbean International's Grandeur of the Seas to Maryland, where she replaces Enchantment of the Seas and offers six-, to 10-night cruises year-round to Bermuda, The Bahamas and the Eastern and Western Caribbean, as well as Canada and New England.

BALTIMORE, May 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Port of Baltimore today welcomed Royal Caribbean International’s Grandeur of the Seas to Maryland, where she replaces Enchantment of the Seas and offers six-, to 10-night cruises year-round to Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Eastern and Western Caribbean, as well as Canada and New England. The Canaveral Port Authority hosted about 100 community leaders aboard Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas for the traditional Plaque and Key Ceremony May 1 to welcome the ship to its new homeport at Port Canaveral. The cruise liner's itinerary will include cruises to Coco Cay and Nassau.

Fly-fishing bolsters tourism product

The Ministry of Tourism (MOT) continues to diversify its tourism product with a new focus on fly-fishing as a valuable component of the sector, according to Ministry officials.

Figures provided by MOT indicate that the fly-fishing industry is worth around $140 million a year to the Bahamian economy.
