Cloud CaribIn the wake of unprecedented data surveillance operations in the US exposed today, the Cloud Infrastructure provider in the Caribbean wants to assure clients that their data and infrastructure is only hosted offshore.

Both the Guardian and Washington Post are reporting that the US federal government has been accessing personal data from a number of large internet companies for several years. The resulting data trove is reported to contain records on millions of individuals using online services such as Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, and others. Such actions reinforce why entities like Cloud Carib and other offshore cloud providers are becoming indespensable to security-conscious enterprises. Clients of offshore cloud infrastructure providers enjoy full confidentiality by storing their data offshore, preventing unwarranted disclosure to third parties.

BTCTAMPA, Fla. – Syniverse was honored with two 2013 Global Telecoms Business (GTB) Innovation Awards at the annual ceremony in London on Tuesday, June 4. The GTB Innovation Awards recognize innovative projects involving telecommunications operators and service providers around the world in association with their vendors and suppliers. This is Syniverse’s sixth consecutive year being named a winner.

Syniverse and its customer Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) were recognized together with a 2013 Innovation Award in the Business Service Innovation category for the use of Syniverse’s IPX network and Real-Time Intelligence tools, which helped BTC grow ARPU among its users while increasing customer satisfaction.

Another 2013 Innovation Award in the Business Service Innovation category went to Syniverse and Telefónica S.A. to honor the success of Syniverse’s Managed Services in helping the operator optimize its roaming business at 10 Latin America properties. The solution exceeded targets for roaming service launches set by the operator, helping to extend global reach for end users and grow revenues.

RBC will celebrate the fourth annual Blue Water Day on June 14, 2013.

OASThe 43rd General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), which is taking place in Antigua, Guatemala, today adopted the Inter-American Convention against Racism, Racial Discrimination, and Related Forms of Intolerance and the Inter-American Convention against All Forms of Discrimination and Intolerance and opened them for signature.

This decision by the General Assembly marks the end of the process whereby those two documents were negotiated and drafted, with which they are now open for the member states to sign and subsequently ratify. Tomorrow a signing ceremony for the two conventions will be held, to be attended by the Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza.
