Minister of the Environment and Housing Kenred Dorsett has announced the release of Eco Bahamas –a quarterly magazine that highlights environmental issues in the country and news from within the Ministry of the Environment and Housing.

“In an effort to ensure that the general public is kept abreast of the work being done to safeguard the environment by my ministry and its agencies and partners, we have published an environmental magazine and newsletter,” noted Dorsett in a press release announcing the publication.

The Constitutional Commission will present its report to the Prime Minister and his Cabinet at the Colonial Hilton Hotel in Nassau July 8, 2013, ahead of the 40th Anniversary of Independence July 10.

Prime Minister Perry Christie announced the formation of the Constitutional Commission August 1, 2012.

He gave it a broad mandate to conduct a comprehensive review of the Constitution of The Bahamas, and to recommend changes to the Constitution in advance of the 40th anniversary of Independence.

CARICOM heads meet in Port of Spain

Trinidad and Tobago's Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who assumed the chairmanship of CARICOM on July 1, is expected to set the tone for discussions on matters impacting regional integration in her address this evening at the opening of the Heads of Government Meeting. Prime Minister Perry Christie will be attending the four-day meeting being held in Port of Spain.

Bimini-US SuperFast ferry due to launch

A ship shuttling passengers to the westernmost point of The Bahamas could open any day now, representatives from Bimini SuperFast said Friday. The ship will transport as many as 1,500 passengers to Bimini and back twice daily, and offer gambling and food.
