MeetingThe Ministry of Financial Services and the Department of Immigration have said that they are committed to maintaining The Bahamas as a world class international financial centre.

To this end, they have agreed to facilitate the movement of foreign persons through and within The Bahamas by waiving certain visa requirements, with the aim of encouraging international business, finance and trade.

Okyanos Heart Institute, whose mission it is to bring a new standard of care and better quality of life to patients with coronary artery disease using cardiac stem cell therapy, has announced that Antonio Colombo, M.D., F.A.C.C. has joined the esteemed group of Okyanos’ medical advisory council members. Dr. Colombo is director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Columbus Hospital and chief of invasive cardiology at San Raffaele Hospital, both in Milan, Italy, and is a visiting professor of medicine at Columbia Medical Center in New York, USA.

Today is the National Day of The Bahamas. Consisting of around 3,000 islands, islets, and cays, Bahamas is located in the Atlantic Ocean, east of Florida, United States of America, north of Cuba and the Caribbean, and northwest of the British overseas territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Nassau is the capital and largest city. Although the country is not actually located in the Caribbean, it is a member of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), an organization comprised of 15 Caribbean nations.

Coat of ArmsIn August 2012, the government appointed the Constitutional Commission “to conduct a comprehensive review of the Constitution of The Bahamas, and to recommend changes to the Constitution in advance of the 40th anniversary of Independence next year. These changes will require a national referendum to be held in due course so that the will of the people can be determined on the matter.”

The Committee conducted a wide array of private and public forms of consultations with eminent persons in civil society, government officials, special interest groups, the church, representatives from international agencies and the general public in a series of town meetings held throughout Nassau, as well as the major Family Islands.

New work permit policy enhances Bahamas financial services sector

Foreign business professionals traveling to The Bahamas solely for meetings for a less than two-week stay will no longer require a short-term work permit, according to Guardian Business. As The Bahamas looks to maintain its position as a world-class financial services centre, Minister of Financial Services Ryan Pinder said this newest policy is part of the government’s commitment to make doing business in The Bahamas easier. NASSAU, Bahamas — Foreign business professionals traveling to The Bahamas solely for meetings for a less than two-week stay will no longer require a short-term work permit, Guardian Business can confirm.

As The Bahamas looks to maintain its position as a world-class financial services centre, Minister of Financial Services Ryan Pinder said this newest policy is part of the government’s commitment to make doing business in The Bahamas easier.
