FS Ministry invites bids for FATCA reporting system – PDF

The Ministry of Financial Services, in conjunction with the Finance Ministry, invites sealed proposals from qualified firms to provide consultancy services related to the conceptual design, development and deployment of an electronic reporting framework to implement the proposed Inter-governmental Agreement between The Bahamas and the US on the US Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act. Minister of Financial Services Ryan Pinder applauded the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) and all participating firms for continuing to work with the current administration.

He said that the BFSB was “a voice to the government on expressing both concerns and new opportunities in the industry that cause for the development of new products and joint promotional activities.”

Celebrity CruisesLas Vegas, NV ― Cantor Gaming and Celebrity Cruises an-nounced yesterday that they have entered into an agree-ment to provide the cruise industry’s first complete mo-bile casino gaming solution.

Cantor Gaming’s mobile gaming technology will offer a wide selection of casino-style games to Celebrity’s guests, including those on trips to The Bahamas.

FREEPORT, Sept 23, 2013 (Tribune) — Renovation projects at the Reef Village and Grand Bahama airport’s domestic terminal are on schedule, underpinning the creation of hundreds more jobs.

The Minister for Grand Bahama, Dr Michael Darville, along with a Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) team, got a first-hand glimpse of construction projects underway at both venues during recent site inspections.

Demolition work at the Reef Village is nearing completion, with finishing work set to begin on 500 rooms that will comprise the five-star resort set to be leased by Sunwing under the Memories brand.

Baha Mar names Pusateri as COO

Baha Mar Ltd today announced that Paul V Pusateri has been named chief operating officer of Baha Mar, effective immediately, also serving as general manager of the Baha Mar Casino & Hotel. In this new role, Pusateri will be responsible for all day-to-day operations at the $3.5-billion destination gaming resort, which is the largest single-phase luxury resort project in the region. New York, USA — The Commonwealth of The Bahamas became the 157th country to sign onto the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities September 24, setting the framework for the introduction of national disability legislation.

Minster of Social Services and Community Development Melanie Griffin signed the convention on behalf of the government of The Bahamas.
