PM to open AG office tomorrow

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Perry Christie will officially open and name the building that houses the Office of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs tomorrow.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Perry Christie will officially open and name the building that houses the Office of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs tomorrow.

The offices will be housed in the Paul L Adderley Building, which will be named during a special ceremony to commemorate the life and legacy of the late Paul L Adderley.

budgetThe budget for the 2014/2015 fiscal year ending June 30, 2015, was passed in the House of Assembly June 19, 2014, with 24 Members of Parliament from the governing side voting in favour, six “nays” from the opposition and seven absentees.

Regarding the prominent features of the budget, for the upcoming fiscal year the government has budgeted Recurrent Expenditure at a level of $1,823 million, just $2 million up from the 2012/2013 fiscal year which was $114 million higher than the 2011/2012 fiscal year.

Rosewood at Baha Mar, the luxury hotel opening within the Baha Mar resort in December 2014, is sending four Rosewood at Baha Mar associates to train at Rosewood Hotels & Resorts properties in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean.

During their three-month Rosewood immersions, the new associates will receive hands-on instruction in Rosewood’s signature level of intuitive service, refined culture and distinct brand philosophy, preparing to hold prominent leadership positions at Rosewood at Baha Mar when the resort opens later this year.

Hotel moguls in the Out Islands have a lot to celebrate as they have seen a boost in international tourist arrivals, according to Bahama Out Island Promotional Board Executive Director Shavonne Darville.

Recently, it was revealed that tourist arrivals were up by 14.7 per cent at the end of March.

During a board of directors meeting held at the British Colonial Hilton on June 4, Ms. Darville said this was credited to an aggressive marketing approach.

BISX is pleased to announce its BISX All-Share Index and trading statistics for the three month period ending March 31, 2014 with comparison to the same period of 2013.

For the three month period ending March 31, 2014 the BISX All-Share Index closed at 1,514.10. This represents a year to date increase of 45.88 or 3.12%. By comparison for the three month period ending March 31, 2013 the BISX All-Share Index closed at 1,389.83. This represented a year to date increase of 43.57 or 3.24%. The BISX All-Share Index is a market capitalization weighted index comprised of all primary market listings excluding debt securities.
