Ian FairThe Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) has selected Ian Fair as the Recipient of its 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award–a recognition of outstanding and sustained performance and contribution within the industry.

In responding to the pronouncement, Fair said: “I deem it a singular honour to be given a Lifetime Achievement Award by BFSB for my contribution to the financial services industry over the past forty four years.”

Fair has been involved in business and particularly the financial services industry in The Bahamas since 1969. He brings with him a wealth of experience and an in-depth knowledge of the industry, specifically of the international aspects of wealth management.

The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation has said that there is limited space available for its meet and greet event October 2 featuring Arnold Donald, president and chief executive officer of Carnival Corp.

The event–open to members first and non-members on a space available basis–will be held at Billfish Grill at Palm Cay, the active residential and marina community on New Providence’s southeastern shore.

China Bahamas PromotionOne of China’s major investment conferences targeting Asian investors will be the anchor event of a two-week promotional programme by the Ministry of Financial Services and the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB).

The China Offshore Summit, which takes place in Shanghai October 15-16, will see the Ministry and BFSB positioned as lead sponsors. The event attracts around 500 financial intermediaries seeking information on the effective use of tax planning and asset management tools available in jurisdictions such as The Bahamas.

Miami-based law firm Cantor & Webb PA is helping dual citizens in The Bahamas navigate complex US tax regulations with the creation of a new company dedicated to assisting taxpayers with compliance.

CW Tax Services Corp, which launched yesterday, is a boutique tax preparation and consulting company. Headed by Cantor & Webb PA partner Arthur Dichter, the firm’s eight staff will work closely with its parent company to give clients a full service offering.

Andbank, the private bank with headquarters in Andorra, continues to expand its private banking product offering in The Bahamas. During an event September 17, held at its offices at Montague, the boutique private bank, unveiled its latest product to a group of selected realtors.

“We have continuously demonstrated our commitment to The Bahamas, first by tripling our staff over the last few months and by now offering mortgage related services in the high-end Bahamian property market,” said Juan Iglesias (pictured, below), chief executive officer at Andbank.
