The government of The Bahamas anticipated and welcomes this new hemispheric political development of normalized relations between the US and the Republic of Cuba and believes this to be useful and good for the Inter-America system and the hemisphere generally.

The Ministry of Tourism is set to launch a new $3 million advertising campaign in South Florida that is dedicated to Grand Bahama, Prime Minister Perry Christie recently announced.

The campaign will highlight the “Grand Life” tourists both foreign and domestic can experience on Grand Bahama and comes at a time when the Bahamas Balearia Express and Bahamas Celebration Cruise Line would be expanding service offerings to the island as the new year (2015) ensues.

Silver Airways to launch Tampa-Abaco service

Silver Airways is now booking flights from Tampa International Airport to Marsh Harbour, Abaco. The service will run on Saturdays and Sundays starting February 12, 2015.

Silver Airways TAMPA — Wedding planners wanted it. So did fishermen and the yachting community. So, Tampa International Airport got it — its first direct flight to The Bahamas.

Silver Airways is now booking flights to Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, which will begin on Saturdays and Sundays starting Feb. 12. Those quick on the draw can get introductory fares of $139 to The Bahamas and $179 back to Tampa from now through Dec. 22. The introductory fares are good Feb. 12 through April 30, 2015.

LONDON (Alliance News) – Shares in Bahamas Petroleum Co PLC jumped higher on Thursday after the company said a new Petroleum Act and a set of associated regulations have been put before The Bahamas parliament.

In addition to the Petroleum Act, a Sovereign Wealth Act has also been proposed in order to provide a legislative framework to ensure any wealth from successful oil exploration activity will be invested, conserved and used for the benefit of the residents of the Caribbean island.

Minister ‘confident’ Resolve will maximize debt collection

During his contribution in the House of Assembly last week Minister of State for Finance Michael Halkitis said he was "confident" about the team tasked to recoup outstanding debts in the region of $100 million owed to the government through delinquent accounts at the Bank of The Bahamas.
