Perry ChristieHere follows a statement of condolences from Prime Minister Perry Christie (right) on the passing of Sir Jack Hayward in Florida aged 91:

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing this morning of Sir Jack Hayward. He was by common acclaim the single most important figure behind the economic development of the city of Freeport, Grand Bahama, in the post-independence era, having succeeded to the leading position held by his late father, Sir Charles Hayward, in the Grand Bahama Port Authority.

Deltec International Group has announced the appointment of Brian Jones to run Deltec Fund Services Ltd, its fund administration business.

Brian has more than a decade of experience in the investment funds industry. Previously, he served as the director and manager of Private Label Fund Services at UBS Trustees (Bahamas) Ltd. Brian was responsible for developing and promoting SMART Fund Model 007.

Bahamas observes Majority Rule Day

The Cabinet Office announced last week that The Bahamas would observe Majority Rule Day January 12.

A Majority Rule Exhibition, a photo narration outlining important steps in the march to Majority Rule, will be displayed downtown in Rawson Square and can be viewed all week.

The Bahamas Investor team would like to wish everyone a restful holiday.

During a meeting between Bahamian Prime Minister Perry Christie yesterday, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced an agreement that would allow The Bahamas to be a country where international parties can be settle debts.

He also announced an agreement that would allow The Bahamas to trade in Chinese denominated currency, the Renminbi (RMB) Chinese yuan.*
