Cape Air has partnered with Resorts World Bimini to bring a regularly scheduled commercial seaplane service back to North Bimini, a service that has not been available since 2005. Scheduled flights will begin December 21, 2015 with two daily flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Bimini's North Seaplane Base at Resorts World Bimini.

Cape AirBIMINI, Bahamas, December 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Cape Air has partnered with Resorts World Bimini (RWB) to bring regularly scheduled commercial seaplane service back to North Bimini, a service that has not been available since 2005. Under the new partnership between Cape Air and RWB, scheduled flights will beginDecember 21, 2015 with two daily flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Bimini’s North Seaplane Base (NSB) at Resorts World Bimini. Beginning January 18, 2016, four daily flights will operate between Fort Lauderdale and North Bimini. In addition, two daily flights will operate between Watson Island Seaplane Base in Miami and Bimini.

CHECChina Harbour Engineering Co (CHEC) has recommenced work on the $39 million North Abaco port development in Coopers Town, following the completion of the Supplemental Environmental Impact Assessment.

Following the discovery of environmental setbacks that caused work to halt temporarily at the Coopers Town construction site earlier this year, CHEC says the project is back on schedule.

“We have everything in place that we need to complete the project,” said project manager Andy Du.

LPIADecember 3, 2015 (Caribbean360)––The Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) in the Bahamas has won the award for Best Airport Website in North America and the Caribbean at a special recognition event hosted by Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA).

It’s the first Caribbean airport to do so.

The award was presented at ACI-NA’s inaugural Marketing and Communications Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, to the airport that produced an outstanding website from a design, communications, accessibility and navigation standpoint between August 2014 and August 2015.

Vice president of Marketing and Communications at LPIA, Jan Knowles, explained that LPIA needed to improve its online presence to ensure that it reflected our brand and to promote new amenities and services that are available to our passengers.

London, England – The Bahamas was successful in its re-election to the Council of The International Maritime Organization during elections at the 29th IMO Assembly held in London at the end of last month.

Out of the 154 votes cast by IMO member states, The Bahamas obtained 124 votes to gain re-election to the IMO council in Category C.

Minister of Transport and Aviation Glenys Hanna Martin said that this further cements The Bahamas’ rise to the top in leadership in the maritime sector.

Golf greats head to Bahamas

Tiger Woods will play host to a field of 18 golfers this week at the Hero World Challenge in The Bahamas. The tournament benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation and will be shown on the Golf Channel in the US.

November 30, 2015 (Pro Golf Now)–Tiger Woods may be recovering from back surgery, but he will still play host to a field of 18 golfers this week at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. The tournament benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation.

The field consists of only 18 golfers and is not an official PGA TOUR event; any money won by the golfers doesn’t count towards the official money list. The most recent winners of the four majors make up the field, including the top 11 available players from the Official World Golf Ranking, the defending champion, and two special exemption players selected by the Tiger Woods Foundation.
