CIBC FirstCaribbean has appointed Gary Brown as chief executive officer of CIBC FirstCaribbean with effect 1 January 2016.

Prior to this role, he was global head of corporate banking with the bank’s parent company, CIBC.

The new CEO has stated his intention to build on the strong recovery that the bank has been seeing over the past two quarters, with its highest net income in five years being recorded in the third quarter of 2015.

Palm CaySailors Mike Fish and Martha Garczynski crossed from Ft. Lauderdale to The Bahamas aboard their 47-foot sailboat Layla in December, becoming the first vessel to clear Customs and Immigration at the Palm Cay Marina.

“It was a milestone for the marina and Mike and Martha were so pleased that they could sail directly into Palm Cay without having to clear at another destination or marina first,” said Palm Cay marina manager Demaro Demeritte.

BPC(Stock Market Wire) – Bahamas Petroleum Co says it is delighted that the Bahamian House of Assembly has passed the the Petroleum Bill and associated regulations, as well as a Sovereign Wealth Bill.

The Bills will now be sent to the Bahamian Senate and following successful passage the Governor General will receive the Bills for assent into law; after which they will be known as the Petroleum Act and the Sovereign Wealth Fund Act.
