MOTWASHINGTON, DC – The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s (MOT) Romance Department held its latest signature bridal event at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, May 1.

The event, which was attended by scores of newly engaged couples seeking destination weddings, also featured wedding vendors from The Bahamas, a Junkanoo rush out, Bahamian fashion show and live entertainment by Preston “Puzzle” Wallace.

The Bahamas was named the Leading Wedding Destination at the World Travel Awards in Morocco in December 2015.

International Forum for Investor EducationThe International Forum for Investor Education (IFIE), Americas Chapter, held the first meeting of its working group for content development and delivery in The Bahamas April 22, 2016.

Securities regulators representing 15 jurisdictions including The Bahamas, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curacao, the Eastern Caribbean (eight territories), Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, gathered at the British Colonial Hilton in Nassau to discuss matters pertinent to the promotion of investor education throughout the region.

Sterling-Global-FinancialBahamas-based Sterling Global Financial announced yesterday that its indirect private placement offering to raise funds for its real estate lending vehicle, New Providence Income Fund Ltd (NPIF), closed successfully, demonstrating confidence in the economic climate for prudent real estate debt investment.

“We are very satisfied with the outcome of the offering and particularly pleased by the way in which it was handled through major Canadian financial institutions,” said Sterling president Stephen Tiller. “We believe the reception it received from investors is an indication of the appetite for carefully-aligned real estate debt investment.”

In addition to the 18 condo hotel, the developers have acquired the former Columbus Tavern restaurant and will invest around $7million to transform the property into a new resort.
