BMD Holdings says Baha Mar offer still on table

BMD Holdings Ltd, the developer of Baha Mar, has reported that it has sent a letter to China Exim Bank and Deloitte, the bank's receiver for Baha Mar, asserting it would keep its offer for Baha Mar open for now but will not participate in Deloitte's sale process.

NASSAU, BahamasMay 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — BMD Holdings Ltd., the developer of Baha Mar, today reported it has sent the following letter to China Exim Bank and Deloitte, the bank’s receiver for Baha Mar, asserting it would keep its offer for Baha Mar open for now but will not participate in Deloitte’s sale process. The BMD offer would enable Baha Mar to be opened as soon as possible; payment to be made to unsecured creditors; and China Exim Bank to not have to incur a discount.

IDBThe government of The Bahamas, in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), recently launched the Emerging and Sustainable Cities Initiative (ESCI) for Nassau.

As a core component of the ESCI Nassau Programme, the government and the IDB have informed the public that teams from Factfinders Market Research will be conducting household surveys in communities throughout New Providence May 2-21, 2016.

Enumerators will be clearly identified with official company identification.

Prime Minister Perry Christie said yesterday that an Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) signed with private sector stakeholders in Grand Bahama is a key step in restoring Freeport as an “important engine for growth and prosperity in The Bahamas.”

“Freeport is a globally strategic asset, with tremendous infrastructure and geographic significance that can support growth for years to come,” Prime Minister Christie said. “With the right focus and a refreshed partnership with key private sector players, we can and will make Freeport into a vibrant integrated logistics hub, second to none in the region.”

ALT TAG HEREBritish-based Thorn Medical Plc has acquired Grand Bahama’s Okyanos stem cell facility, and says plans to expand the clinic’s services will make it one of the world’s leading centres – attracting investment and boosting The Bahamas’ medical tourism industry.

Thorn Medical, which bought a controlling interest in Okyanos Cell Therapy in April, recently obtained an unlimited license from the government of The Bahamas for both stem cell research and treatment. The company is currently preparing a stock market listing in London and will then apply for a dual listing on NASDAQ to raise further funds to invest in its stem cell operations in The Bahamas.
