Bahamas teams up with Miami Dolphins

Dolphins logoAs part of its on-going partnership with the Miami Dolphins, The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (BMOT) participated in the 20th Fins Weekend and provided Bahamian inspired tropical decor, desserts and live conch salad demonstration, at the three-day event, which comprised golf, fishing, a Hook and Tackle Captain’s party and fundraising.

“As part of the BMOT’s five-year partnership with the Miami Dolphins, the Islands of The Bahamas is the official vacation destination for the Miami Dolphins’ fans, players and legends and its multi-islands brand is promoted to thousands annually at Sun Life Stadium. The organization also conducts an annual weekend of events in The Bahamas including fishing, boating, golf, a flag football match and community initiatives of football and cheerleading clinics for underprivileged children as well as supporting a local Bahamian charity,” said Shane Russell, Sports Manager at the BMOT.

In the fall of 2017, Disney Cruise Line will return to New York with sailings to The Bahamas and the Canadian coast. Cirrus LifeThe Cirrus Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) recently conducted its annual fly-in adventure into Marsh Harbour, Abaco in The Bahamas, with some 20 Cirrus airplanes and forty-six people.

The four-day trip which began from the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport was organized by Leonard Stuart, aviation specialist, at the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (MOT) and Banyan Air Service, one of The Bahamas’ fixed based operators in Fort Lauderdale.

The BICA Act provides terms and conditions for qualified CPA Canada professionals based in The Bahamas to apply for membership and for the issuance of a license to practice public accounting.

CPAMay 2016 (BFSB) – The Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) now recognises the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) as an approved professional body. The BICA Act provides terms and conditions for qualified CPA Canada professionals based in The Bahamas to apply for membership and for the issuance of a license to practice public accounting. “Members of Council look forward to a cooperative relationship with CPA Canada,” says Darnell Osborne, BICA President.

Caribbean ExportThe Caribbean Export Development Agency has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Latin Chamber of Commerce of the USA. The agreements form the basis for the strengthening of investment and trade promotion and facilitation and develop reciprocal cooperation between the US based entities and the member states of Caribbean Export which includes The Bahamas and CARIFORUM countries.

“These agreements will open new doors to the Caribbean and to Caribbean businesses. Caribbean Export has always been very strong on promoting partnerships because we see them as the most effective and cost-efficient ways to advance the goals of the agency and those of the region,” notes Coke Hamilton, executive director of Caribbean Export.
