The first ever Tru Tru Bahamian Marketplace at the Atlantis Paradise Island drew scores of businesses and interested Bahamians over the weekend. Vendors, who were invited to attend the marketplace, said they were thankful for the exposure.

Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to The Commonwealth of The Bahamas Huang Qinguo paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Financial Services Hope Strachan at the Ministry June 21, 2016.

Prime Minister Perry Christie has said that the original developer of Baha Mar, Sarkis Izmirlian, is not among the final bidders vying to operate the stalled resort, but that significant headway was being made in getting the property completed and open for business. BISXThe Bahamas International Securities Exchange (BISX) is pleased to announce the listing of the following funds:

  1. Lewisham Investment Fund Ltd, (Lewisham),
  2. 3Ps Investment Fund IC Commons Quotas (“The 3Ps Common Quotas”),
  3. 3Ps Investment Fund IC Preferred Quotas (“The 3Ps Preferred Quotas”), and
  4. Delmonte Fund Limited SAC (Delmonte)

These funds have all successfully completed the BISX Listing Process. As a result, these securities have now been added to the roster of funds listed on the Exchange. Lewisham, 3Ps Common Quotas and 3Ps Preferred Quotas and Delmonte are all open-ended investment funds.

Commonwealth Bank director Clifford Culmer has stepped down after more than two decades in the role.

The announcement was made at the bank’s recent AGM.

Culmer, a chartered accountant, had served on the board for a total of 25 years. In his second term, 1998-2016, he was chairman of the audit committee.

Organizers are hoping that the multidiscipline games will build relationships among the young athletes in the Commonwealth, as well as introduce The Bahamas to scores of potential new visitors.

ALT TAG HERECommonwealth Brewery Ltd (CBL) reported $123.5 million in revenue and $68 million in total assets at its annual general meeting 8 June while remaining debt-free. However, the company reported relatively flat revenue year-over-year and a decline in profits and earnings per share.

Though the company’s financials were mixed, relatively flat revenue year-over-year and a decline in profits and earnings per share, the figures reflected challenges and corrections, including a one-time adjustment and were described as paling by comparison to the significance of “exciting” strategic plans to take the company forward.
