“Callenders, the country’s oldest legal practice, was founded in 1903 and celebrated continuous service to local and international clients for more than 100 years over a decade ago. During all that time and for the next decade and more, there was a member of the Callender family at the helm,” said Chad Roberts, managing partner, Nassau.

Minister for Grand Bahama Michael Darville has urged attendees of the Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers to work with the government to revitalize Grand Bahama and empower the people.

The Minister was addressing BACO’s 11th Annual Northern Bahamas Conference at Pelican Bay earlier this month.

He said he looked forward to “BACO’s continued commitment to enhancing the integrity of The Bahamas’ financial services sector.”

Caribbean ExportThe Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) will host the 2nd Annual Caribbean Exporter of the Year Awards at the Hilton Barbados Resort, Bridgetown Barbados September 27, 2016 in recognition of the contribution made by the region’s exporters to the regional economy.

The Awards were created support export across the region by encouraging CARIFORUM firms to either begin exporting, or to expand their exports and contribute towards the sustainability of regional economies.

Here follows a statement from the office of the Attorney General regarding the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) leak:

The Government of The Bahamas officially launched its e-Services Business Registration platform at the Registrar General’s Department in January 2016 as a part of the government’s ongoing strategy to improve ease of doing business. It is important to note that the data required by law to be maintained in the companies registry is available to the public.

ALT TAG HEREFIVE months after the country’s financial services sector was dragged into the spotlight as a top tax haven in the infamous “Panama Papers”, international watchdogs yesterday unveiled a free online database created from 1.3 million leaked files from the Bahamas’ corporate registry.

The database by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) circumvents the local register’s costly retrieval fee and incomplete online registry by providing, for the first time, a publicly searchable forum of the names of directors and some shareholders of more than 175,000 Bahamian companies.
