The Bahamas will sign six new air service contracts this week. This, according to Minister of Transport and Aviation Glenys Hanna-Martin, will open new windows for the country’s aviation industry.

Minister Hanna-Martin delivered remarks at the opening ceremony of the 9th International Civil Aviation Organization Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN2016), December 5 at the Kendal G. L. Isaacs Gymnasium.

The five-day conclave in Nassau, December 5-9, is being held at the National Stadium. This is the second time the event is being held in the Western Hemisphere: Jamaica was the host country for the conference in 2010.

ALT TAG HEREPrime Minister and Minister of Finance Perry Christie told attendees at the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association Annual Christmas Luncheon, December 2, that Exim Bank of China has provided additional funding to complete the Baha Mar Project and construction work is well underway.

“You may have heard by now the announcement regarding the acquisition of the Baha Mar properties by a Hong Kong-based company – a world-class hotel, real-estate developer and business conglomerate,” Prime Minister Christie said at the event held at Atlantis Paradise Island.

SMP Partners Group has completed the acquisition of Royal Bank of Canada’s (RBC) trust and fund administration business in The Bahamas, expanding its operations into the Caribbean.

It will operate from offices in Lyford Cay, with Stephen Turner, CEO – Caribbean Region, leading the team and Deidree Bain, director, who is transferring from RBC, managing the operation and working with Stephen to expand the service offering.
