VISION 2040The final draft of the National Development Plan (NDP), an economic roadmap for The Bahamas’ future, is set to be released next month following three years of intensive research and stakeholder engagement.

Funded in part by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the NDP launched in November 2014 with the aim of addressing the country’s challenges in four key areas: the economy, governance, human capital and the environment.

Minister of Financial Services and Local Government Hope Strachan

Minister of Financial Services and Local Government Hope Strachan was in Grand Bahama at the end of last week to begin the process of increasing awareness among the business community ahead of the launch of Bahamas Trade Information Service Portal April 6, 2017.

Minister Strachan joined the Minister for Grand Bahama Dr. Michael Darville at a press conference at the Ministry for Grand Bahama to give an update on the project.

She explained that the portal is a joint initiative of the government of The Bahamas and the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation (BCCEC).

The Ministry of Transport and Aviation signed a Declaration of Intent on Flight Information Region (FIR) with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), March 22 in Nassau.

The government also signed a second document – a Radar Data Sharing partnership.

The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Immigration at the Goodman’s Bay Corporate Centre.

Mr. Speaker,
It gives me great pleasure to inform Parliament that yesterday, March 21, 2017 an important milestone of progress was realized towards the successful completion and opening of the mega Baha Mar Resort, with the handover of facilities by the general contractor China Construction to the new purchaser CTFBM Holdings Ltd.
