Securities Commission of The Bahamas (SCB) has been reappointed to as the chair of the Caribbean Group of Securities Regulators (CGSR). Securities regulators from over 15 Caribbean jurisdictions selected the SCB to continue as the chair for the 2017-2019 period.

The announcement was made at the 13th CGSR Conference and Workshop, co-hosted by the SCB and the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC). The Conference and Workshop was held 24-26 April at the British Colonial Hilton in Nassau under the theme “Evolving Priorities for Effective Capital Market Supervision and Enhanced Financial Stability in the Caribbean”.

Produced by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), CHIEF is a high-level forum, which features a number of educational sessions, where the region’s hospitality industry assembles to network, learn, share ideas and collectively brainstorm creative solutions to current challenges.

Carnival Cruise LinesMay 3rd 2017, 14:52 (Travel Weekly) – Up to one million cruise passengers a year will be transported to a new cruise port in The Bahamas to be developed by Carnival Cruise Line.

Claimed to be the largest purpose-built cruise facility in The Bahamas, features will include one mile of beach, food, drink and shopping outlets, water-based amenities and other recreational facilities.

The as yet unnamed planned port is to be funded and operated by Carnival Cruise Line and will be capable of handling two of the line’s largest ships simultaneously.

Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon.
We have gathered here today for the signing of an historic Agreement with Carnival Cruise Lines for the establishment of a cruise port and destination in Eastern Grand Bahama. In order to achieve this, it took painstaking and lengthy negotiations between my Government and the principals of the Freeport Harbour Company to negotiate a Waiver of Exclusivity Agreement of their Exclusivity Rights on all ports in Grand Bahamas, which had been granted by the previous administration.
