LPIANew Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey results for the first quarter of 2017 reveal strong showings in key performance markers for Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA).

This comes as the airport acts on a strategy to meet short and long-term airlift goals.

Cleanliness of airport terminals still tops the list of high scores for LPIA with 4.46 out of a possible 5-point scale followed closely by ease of customers finding their way through the facilities (4.40) and courtesy and helpfulness of check-in staff (4.33). Passengers also found overall airport ambiance and inspection staff as a positive experience, ranking these categories 4.31 and 4.25 respectively.

The Central Bank of The Bahamas has released its 2016 Annual Report, which comprises a summary of the bank’s operations over the year, an analysis of regulatory developments affecting the financial sector, a review of monetary policy changes, as well as payment systems developments.

It also includes an examination of economic and financial developments both internationally and in The Bahamas during 2016, and presents a comprehensive assessment of the Bank’s Statement of Accounts for the year ending December 31, 2016.

BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday exchanged messages with Prime Minister of The Bahamas Hubert Minnis to celebrate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In his message, Li said since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and the Bahamas have enjoyed smooth development of bilateral ties, gradually deepened mutual political trust, gained remarkable achievements in pragmatic cooperation, and maintained communication and coordination in international and regional issues.

Jo-Anne Stephens, an associate at full service corporate and commercial law firm Higgs & Johnson, has been awarded the Society of Trust & Estate Professionals’ (STEP) Student Award.

The award is presented to the STEP student in the Caribbean and Latin American region who has achieved the highest average marks in all exams for the STEP Diploma in International Trust Management during 2016.

Stephens accepted the award at the annual STEP Caribbean conference in the Cayman Islands earlier this month, adding to a list of top honours from the organisation, including four STEP Worldwide Excellence Awards for the highest average scores.

The Ministry of Finance has made the move towards greener transportation by leasing eight zero-emission, 100 per cent electric Nissan LEAFs.

The move demonstrates The Bahamas government’s continued progress towards reducing its reliance on fossil fuels, similar to public energy initiatives in Barbados and other countries throughout the Caribbean region.
