Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Peter Turnquest is attending the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Investment Corp), which is being held July 17-18, 2019 in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Turnquest is currently the IDB Governor.


The Bahamas delegation includes: Financial Secretary Marlon Johnson (Alternate IDB Governor); Deputy Financial Secretary Cherran O’Brien; and Ministry of Finance Economist Laron Neely.

The BOKA Vanguard, a semi-submersible heavy lift ship that can function as a floating dry dock, safely delivered the Carnival Vista cruise ship to the Grand Bahama Shipyard for repairs July 13, 2019.

The illa Bimini Resort & Residences beachfront eco-resort is set to break ground in August and features residential villas and a five-star boutique hotel situated on three private islands, just north of Bimini.
