The Bahamas is one of the Caribbean’s most in demand destinations, according to travel firm Expedia Group which noted a 39 per cent increase in bookings to the archipelago from April to June, in comparison to the same period last year.
Standalone demand to the top Caribbean markets of Cuba, The Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Aruba grew by 28 per cent in Q2 2019 with most visitors coming from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil and France.
In The Bahamas, the average length of stay was 3 days, according to Expedia Group, and the average booking window (the period of time between booking a trip and arriving in the destination) was 40 days.
Packages are also a growing segment of the market as international travellers look to make the most of their trip through varied activities and experiences. This niche grew by 1 per cent in The Bahamas in Q2 2019, its biggest market was Canada and the average length of stay for package guests was 5 days.
