Cornèr BankCornèr Bank (Overseas) Ltd and the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) will team up for the first time this year in a new sponsorship deal. Cornèr Bank is launching the 2015 Bahamas International Film Festival mobile app, as well as putting its support behind the festival’s World Cinema and Latin America Film side bars and receptions.

This exclusive partnership with the festival was announced this week by BIFF founder and executive director Leslie Vanderpool.

This year’s festival is scheduled for December 1-12 with screenings and events spread over Harbour Island, Governor’s Harbour and Nassau.

Available now for free download on iTunes and Google Play stores, the BIFF app presents the festival schedule and events in a convenient format. Besides film listings, tickets and screening locations, the BIFF app offers early-bird access to the festival’s official selection and daily exclusive videos and event features during the festival. The festival is also preparing easy access tools for media, as well as buyers/distributors looking to connect with filmmakers.

The BIFF Mobile App also extends the festival’s content offering beyond its annual December dates, with year-long events and film features planned, all accessible on a smartphone.

“We are excited to launch our first app for Bahamas Film Festival, knowing how connected film lovers are to their smartphones it is a natural extension for us to bring our films and filmmakers into a wider audience,” says Vanderpool.

Michele Clivio, manager of Cornèr Bank (Overseas) says: “It is because of Cornèr Bank’s firm belief in the arts and its power to enrich lives and build better communities, that we applaud and fully support BIFF’s desire to raise awareness by showcasing the expertise and talents of film makers locally and internationally.”

Manel Martinez (pictured) has been appointed chief executive officer of the Andorra-headquartered private bank. Other new appointments include deputy managing directors George Maillis and Amand Martin, who will also serve as co-heads of private banking.

KRyS-Global and AlixPartners, joint provisional liquidators (JPLs) to the stalled Baha Mar resort project, have said they will work closely with Deloitte, which has been named as the receiver.
