Even the wealthy snowbirds with mansions on so-called Millionaire’s Row love to do their “beach slumming” in the colorful eating and drinking shanties, where the only thing that’s luxurious is the plushness of the sand.
To find what is luxurious about Grand Bahama Island, check into Old Bahama Bay resort on the West End, where the focus is on yachting. It has a small beach with its own gentrified version of a beach shack, plus a spa and fine-dining restaurant.
Similarly, Ocean Reef Yacht Club in Freeport sequesters guests in a privileged ambience of condominiums and yachts with private restaurants, a dive shop, and boat rentals.
More convenient to attractions, Grand Lucayan’s Lanai Suites give you luxury with a sea view (pictured).
